Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Tulbagh, and Wellington form the backbone of the Cape Winelands. But it’s the town of Paarl that surprised us the most; offering more than wine tasting.

Wellington is not exactly a small town, but if there ever were a great time to visit, it’s winter. Skip the tourist crowds that flock there during summer and, cozy up in front of the fireplace in this charming town.

With winter in full force, nothing comes close to sitting by a logged wood fire, accompanied by a bottle of Shiraz and, a good book. Fortuitously, this is exactly what we came to experience at the luxurious Andreas Wine Estate in Wellington.

Cape Wineland getaways during wintertime is a must, especially if you staying at Val du Charron; cuddling up beside the fireplace, drinking on exquisite wines and, simply relaxing.
